Recreation Volunteers Needed

Read about our new approach to the Crandon Recreation Calendar.

Since participation at some of our recreational activities has been low, the CLCC Board has decided to try a new approach to this seasons recreational activities. We will only be hosting activities that someone from the community is willing to take charge of. We have been trying for a long time to get more volunteers from our community, now is your chance to step up.

Also, at this time we would like to thank Jen Domaracki for chairing our recreational team for the past eight years. John Nelson has volunteered to attempt to fill her shoes. Please give him a message at Jetans318@gmail.com for any ideas you may have for recreation. Please keep in mind that you need to be willing to chair the activity.

Below is a list of current activities scheduled for our upcoming season. Actual dates will be in our newsletter, posted on this site, facebook and all community bulletin boards. Please remember that without your help some of activities from previous years such as the boat regatta, Easter egg hunt, arts & crafts for kids, December holiday event. etc, will not be held.

Volunteers Needed!

Volunteers are needed to plan and organize lake recreation activities.

Crandon Lake is in need of volunteers to plan and execute our recreation calendar. The busiest months of the year are June through August. We typically have events for Halloween, Christmas, Easter, and a few group activities as well.

A date and description of each activity should be forwarded to the CLCC Board of Directors to be published in our annual mailing, Facebook page, and website.

Planning will begin in April for events that begin at the start of the CLCC fiscal year. Volunteers would work within a budget given by the CLCC Board of Directors.

It is our hope to have several volunteers to delegate responsibilities.

Should you have any questions or interest, please respond here.

Thank you!

ALERT! Suspicious Individual

Please be on alert for a suspicious individual.

A white male, approximately in his mid-40's knocked on a resident's door near Scarpulla Field around 1 pm today.

The man was on foot, wearing a hooded sweatshirt. He claimed to be completing construction work in the area and wanted to quote on a window replacement. When asked for his business card, he did not have one. When he was then asked for a business name, he turned and walked away.

State Police have been notified.

Lake Treatment Scheduled

Note: Lake treatment this week!

The lake will be treated on Tuesday, October 6th and Wednesday, October 7th.

The Tuesday treatment will be for weeds in the coves and by the West Beach. This treatment has a 3 day drinking restriction and a 5 day irrigation restriction.

A new invasive weed was discovered that we never had before and needs to be treated before it has a chance of getting established.

The Wednesday treatment will be for the lily pads in the entrance cove with no restrictions.

CLCC Board Member Availability

An important message regarding an open position on the CLCC Board.

A member of the board of directors has resigned due to personal reasons. We now have an opening, and are soliciting interested candidates. Given the post election timing of this resignation, our current by laws require us to ask for volunteers, discuss as a board, and then choose someone to fill the vacancy. We will make this selection at our next board meeting on September 24, 2015. Consideration will be given to past service and interest, experience and skills, as well as the individual's ability to strengthen our current board composition and performance.

Please forward a current resume to Paul Rockwood at prockwo@gmail.com or drop at the office prior to September 24th  for consideration. We will announce our selection post the board meeting.

Please remember that board membership is voluntary, and when done correctly, requires considerable commitment, including regular attendance at all board meetings and the active support of committee work and events. We have a terrific group of current volunteers who have done valuable work here at Crandon Lakes, and would welcome a new member into this rewarding opportunity.

Here's to the community and our volunteers!

Kevin Peters
President- CLCC

On behalf of the board.

Please Note: August

Important notes for the month of August —

Please note the following changes to our schedule.

  • Rec Night is a weekly Crandon event. As long as the weather holds, we have been having Rec Night at Scarpulla Field every Wednesday at 7 pm. Lately, the Crandon youth have been challenging the adults at kickball … which is the cause of this invitation. Adults — please come out to even up the count and have some fun! Rec Night will run until the end of August.
  • CLCC will be having "Grown-Up Movie Night" this Friday at 8 pm. We will be showing "American Sniper." Popcorn will be served (while supplies last!) Please arrive around 8 pm. The movie will be shown once it is dark enough to be viewed under the pavilion. Please see the event calendar for additional movie information.
  • The CLCC Board of Directors Meeting originally scheduled for the 4th Thursday of the month will instead be on AUGUST 20th at 7:30 pm. The first half hour is open for public discussion.
